Apple notched the top spot in the computer reliability ranking based on a survey conducted by Rescuecom a New York based technical support franchise. Apple received a score of 374 with Lenovo and Asus trailing behind it and which received a score of 320 and 166 respectively. Claiming the fourth and fifth places are Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard.
The ratings were based on percentage of support calls represented by each vendor vis-a-vis their market share in the U.S. For example, although Apple has 9% share in the computer market, it only accounts for only 2.4% in terms of calls to Rescuecom.
The surprising find in this study is the decline of the rating of Asus which used to led Rescucom’s computer reliability rating for six months garnered a score of 166 from what used to be 972. The decline may be explained by the fact that there are several computers made by Asus which are now out on the market. The tendency is to expect the increase in support calls as explained by Rescucom.
